Montgomery superintendent reverses course on later high school start times

Montgomery County Schools Superintendent Joshua P. Starr in October proposed changing school starting and ending times to give high school students more sleep. On Tuesday, Starr changed course, recommending that the county school board not take action on the proposal, citing a projected cost of more than $21 million and "mixed" reaction from the community. This is Starr's report and recommendation that he issued Tuesday, June 17.
