Airline mergers since 2000
Since 2000, 10 major airlines have merged into five. Two of those — American Airlines and US Airways — announced a merger in February. The Justice Department announced a settlement in its suit to block the merger. The deal includes a requirement that the merged airline give up some of its flights at Reagan National Airport.
