Chinese-registered firms are big winners in World Bank contracts
Chinese firms win far more World Bank contracts than any other nation. The chart on the left shows how contracts awarded under the World Bank’s international bidding rules are dispersed among companies registered in different countries. It excludes World Bank contracts in China, which are almost exclusively won by Chinese-registered companies — as is the case for most large developing countries. China has been particularly successful winning World Bank contracts in Africa. The chart on the right reflects the percentage of World Bank international contracts won in different countries by Chinese-registered firms.
