Timeline: Purple Line project
The 16-mile Purple Line would link Bethesda and New Carrollton via light rail. Supporters have said would provide an important east-west link missing in the suburban D.C. rail network and spur economic development. Critic argued it would be too expensive and soak up too much money from other needs. Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan has given tentative approval to the project. The latest on the Purple Line
