    Extra Item(s) of Interest

The Irma L. Rangel Young Women’s Leadership School is a public magnet school for young women grades six through twelve. It opened as the first public school for girls in Texas in 2004 as a unique public-private partnership between the Dallas Independent School District and the Young Women's Preparatory Newtork, (formerly the Foundation for the Education of Young Women). Irma Lerma Rangel was the first Mexican-American woman elected to the Texas House of Representatives. Her spirit inspires the school’s core values of College Readiness, Wellness and Leadership; these are brought to life through experiential and service learning, summer enrichment camps, advisory and mentoring programs and a college preparatory curriculum.
