The finance firm spent much of 2011continuing its transition from a speciality finance firm to a traditional bank. Co-chief executive Steven A. Museles and Chief Financial Officer Donald Cole stepped down as more responsibility shifted to CapitalSource Bank, which was formed from a California thrift the company acquired in 2008. The bank became the sole vehicle for the parent company's loan originations this year, though the firm delayed its application to become a bank holding company in the wake of a stock buyback initiative.
