It’s been a busy year for the cable television programmer, which started the OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network on Jan. 1. In November, the company bought London-based indie production company Betty as part of its effort to ramp up programming on its internationally distributed TLC network. Discovery’s cable offerings also include Animal Planet, Military Channel, Planet Green and the Web site HowStuffWorks.com.
