George Washington University

The university broke ground on a new Science and Engineering Hall. GW also announced that the Textile Museum and Albert Small's Washingtonian Collection will be housed at the yet-to-be-built George Washington University Museum. The university established an MBA program tailored for professional athletes and celebrities who have had a nontraditional education, and the business school began a mentorship program aimed at teaching entrepreneurship to students at Anacostia High School in Southeast Washington.


At a Jan. 26, 1939 conference on the GW campus, Niels Bohr announced that Otto Hahn had successfully split the atom.
