Navy Federal Credit Union

The nation’s largest credit union, with $45.57 billion in assets and 3.8 million members, eliminated balance transfer fees for new credit card accounts. It opened nine new branches throughout the country. With mortgage rates trending low over the summer, the credit union in August offered members purchasing or refinancing a home $2,500 towards closing costs. The credit union said the volume of mortgage applications soared 50 percent within the first three weeks of the offer.
