Pentagon Federal Credit Union
This credit union giant, with $15.09 billion in assets and more than 1 million members, announced plans to expand its wholly-owned subsidiary PenFed Realty with four new locations in the Washington area this year. In October, PenFed Realty announced that it had acquired real estate broker Prudential Carruthers Realtors and was changing its name to Prudential PenFed Realty. Pentagon Federal extended membership to employees and voting members of the Navy League of the United States, a nonprofit organization that supports men and women of the sea services.
Trivia
PenFed was originally founded in 1935 as the War Department Federal Credit Union, and later changed its name in 1947 to Pentagon Federal Credit Union.
